This knife is not true Damascus steel, but it is 1024 layers of pattern welded 1084 and 15N20. The steels are cut to size, stacked in an alternating pattern and forge welded together. That billet is then stretched out, cut into even pieces, restacked and forge welded again. This is repeated until the layer count reaches 1024 layers. After the knife is shaped and sanded, the blade is etched in ferric chloride acid where the 1084 is effected but the 15N20 is left bright and shiny.

This blade has a brass/deer antler/steel handle riveted to the tang with brass rivets. Special care was taken to ensure that the tang of the knife was not sanded during the handle shaping to ensure the etching remained. A hand made leather sheath with custom tooling was custom fit to this blade to finish the project out.

We are especially proud of this build and the customer was pleased with the final product.
